Welcome Home First Steps is a free home ownership education course designed to help first home buyers understand the home buying process. There are seven course modules which will provide participants with a thorough appreciation about buying, building and sustaining home ownership.

The course is designed for New Zealanders interested in buying their first home.
There are two different study options for the Welcome Home First Steps home education course: online and workshop learning.
Online learning: This programme is run through the internet and is available for participants wishing to do the programme in their own time and in their own space. However, it is still possible to participate in group discussions and get feedback from the tutor online.
Workshop: Workshops are available in Auckland and Wellington. This option will suit you best if you enjoy learning in a classroom environment, do not wish to learn online, or have English as a second language. Please refer to the timetable page to see when the scheduled workshops are planned in your area. Workshops will be held in Christchurch if there is sufficient demand. Please register your interest if you would like to attend a workshop in Christchurch. .

The course is completely free. It is open to all New Zealand residents, aged 16 and over and is delivered by trained professionals.
